After receiving his medical doctorate from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Tuman completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Following his residency, Dr. Tuman underwent extensive specialty training by completing a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Dr. Tuman is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
