WASHINGTON, Jan. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- America Matters is pleased to announce the launch of its Foreign Relations Congressional Fellowship. The program will provide emerging young leaders who are interested in international affairs with work experience at our nation's highest levels of decision making. Awardees will be selected based interest and success in public policy, work experience, and demonstrated analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
"Americans' freedom and liberties depend on national security and foreign diplomacy. Success in these policy areas requires strong and thoughtful leaders who are willing to work across the political aisle and across borders. We created the fellowship to train young professionals to be these leaders" said America Matters' CEO, Lt. Col. Samantha Nerove, US Army, Ret.
The inaugural fellow will be America Matters' own James Middlebrook, Director of Legislative Affairs. His recent successes in state-level women's rights policies and constituent outreach messaging make him an excellent recipient of the fellowship. Middlebrook will take a leave of absence from America Matters during his tenure as a fellow.
The fellowship will provide awardees with a stipend, mental health care benefits, and mentorship from America Matters' management team. "Far too often DC fellows and interns are expected to work for free and without any professional support. It is our hope that by providing financial, health, and mentor support we will receive a greater diversity of applicants and that fellows will be able to maximize their success in the position" says CEO Nerove.
The next group of fellows will be selected later in 2019. Those interested in applying should watch for a call for applications on America Matters' website and social media.
