New Era Named Official Cap Of 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup Team
Leading Headwear Brand Marks Entrance into the Golf Category at Game's Most Compelling Event
BUFFALO, N.Y., July 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era Cap, a global lifestyle brand, has been named the Official Cap of the 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup Team. Partnering with the PGA of America, New Era has secured exclusive rights to headwear during the biennial competition through 2016. Players and Team Captain will wear New Era caps at the 2014 Ryder Cup, Sept. 26-28, at Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.
"New Era has a long history of producing headwear for some of the best athletes in the world," said Christopher H. Koch, CEO of New Era. "Our partnership with the PGA and the Ryder Cup is an exciting opportunity for the brand to bring our premium performance headwear to the golf market and be worn by the best players in the game."
New Era will offer six silhouettes to give players options depending on personal preference and weather conditions. The collection will feature the brand's iconic 59FIFTY fitted cap, a low-crown 59FIFTY, a 39THIRTY stretch fit, a 9FORTY adjustable, a bucket and a visor option. Additionally, a performance knit and a cuff pom knit will be available.
Golf enthusiasts can expect to see the headwear at retail, beginning Aug. 1. Caps will be available at the Ryder Cup and at the PGA.com Shop, the official online store of the PGA of America. Select product will also be available at NewEraCap.com and select retailers. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the New Era Ryder Cup headwear collection will benefit 41 PGA Sections, which support PGA Professionals who grow, teach and manage the game of golf.
"It's exciting to have New Era connected to the U.S. Ryder Cup Team, making our players and Captain look their best in the most compelling event in golf," said PGA of America Chief Executive Officer Pete Bevacqua. "New Era's reputation and innovative style are sure to stand out as our U.S. Team works to win back the Ryder Cup."
Different color stories will be featured throughout the 2014 Ryder Cup – red for practice days, white for Friday, blue for Saturday and a two-tone, white-and-blue color way for Sunday. All caps have "USA" predominantly featured, as well as the Ryder Cup emblem. The design concepts and coloring system of the headwear blend seamlessly with the official apparel of the Ryder Cup, thus providing a cohesive look.
Always at the forefront of innovation, New Era has infused much of this collection with technology to keep players comfortable. The caps are constructed using Diamond Era®, the brand's ultra-lightweight performance fabric. The tech attributes include: SOLARERA, 50+ UV protection that helps deflect the sun's unforgiving rays; COOLERA technology that wicks away sweat to keep players comfortable and dry, allowing them to focus on optimal performance; and MICROERA technology that helps to reduce odor with an anti-microbial agent. The knits feature WINTERERA, which helps wick exterior moisture while providing warmth.
