New Era and Major League Baseball Unveil 2013 "Stars & Stripes"
Authentic camouflage caps to be debut on-field Memorial Day
BUFFALO, N.Y., March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era, the official on-field cap of Major League Baseball (MLB®), announced the launch of the annual "Stars & Stripes" program. In its sixth year, the commemorative caps honor our Armed Forces through patriotic themes that remind us all of the dedication of our troops. A portion of proceeds from the sale of "Stars & Stripes" caps support the Welcome Back Veterans Fund, an organization that provides support to veterans and their families when they come home from war.
This season, when players take the field on Memorial Day, their cap will feature a military digital camouflage design, officially licensed from the United States Military. The camo print is present throughout the entire cap - including the crown and visor. Traditional team colors will encompass the front logo for each franchise cap.
"While camo print has been very popular, as of late, from a fashion perspective, we wanted to take a true approach to the inception of the camouflage print for these caps. Licensing the very design that the brave men and women of our military wear is an authentic approach that we are very proud of," said Christopher H. Koch, New Era CEO.

The caps will be available for purchase beginning in May at NewEraCap.com, MLB.com/Shop and in stadium shops, retailing for $37.99. Fans can also look for another "Stars & Stripes" cap to be unveiled at a later date that players will wear on the Fourth of July.
