New Energy Management Program at Westgate Improves Efficiency While Enhancing Guest Experience
ORLANDO, Fla., July 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Westgate Resorts, a leader in the timeshare and destination resort industries, has successfully implemented a cutting-edge, resort-wide energy conservation program that has yielded over $3 million in savings over the past three years. This eco-friendly process continues to reduce the use of natural resources by focusing on the efficient use of electricity, gas and water at all of the company's 27 resort destinations throughout the United States.
"We are proud of our team for protecting our Earth's limited natural resources while at the same time reducing the operational costs for our valued Westgate timeshare owners," said Mark Waltrip, Chief Operating Officer at Westgate Resorts. "Through this program we have demonstrated that you can protect the environment, save money and provide an outstanding guest experience."
The $3 million in energy savings was achieved through the implementation of a variety of cost-effective renovations to the resorts combined with a preventative maintenance program that monitors and maintains all equipment at maximum operating efficiency. Energy-efficient improvements include redesigning and reinstalling capacitor banks that lower power consumption of certain motors and HVAC equipment; installing energy efficient pool pumps and A/C fan motors; applying solar film on windows; adding strong insulation to attics; converting all light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs and LED lighting; replacing all electric boilers and pool heating systems with high efficiency gas systems; and reducing water usage – all without impacting the guest experience.
