New Energy GIS Data Update to be Released, Industry's Largest Database of Energy Infrastructure
HOUSTON, July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hart Energy's new Mapping & Data Services group, formerly known as Rextag Strategies Inc., announces the second 2011 quarterly update for its Geographic Information System (GIS) data subscribers. This release represents the single most significant update yet to the group's GIS data, adding 36,000 miles of pipelines to its Energy GIS database.
That brings total inventory to 887,613 digitized miles of North American pipelines, making this GIS resource the industry's largest pipeline database by a significant margin (~100,000 miles). This release improves spatial accuracy and pipeline alignment throughout the United States, with particular focus in the Marcellus Shale region. More name-standardization and new data layers have been added as well.
The data update coincides with Rextag's (now Hart Energy's) annual GIS user meetings in San Diego. This year's events, scheduled for July 11 and 13, will bring the group's GIS data clients together to share ideas and contribute to continued expansion and improvement of the data.
Hart Energy's fall GIS data update (coming at the end September 2011) will dramatically expand information about gas gathering systems nationwide. Along with continued spatial accuracy improvements, the coming fall update is expected to add another 20,000 miles of pipeline data.
