"Giving or receiving the gift of travel is now incredibly easy for our customers," said Bob Kupbens, vice president – Marketing and Digital Commerce. "We want to make it easy for customers to do business with Delta, which is why we continue to provide new and innovative ways to help customers plan their next trip and further improve their travel experience."
The process is simple and intuitive. Customers will be allowed to choose the information they would like to include on the eGift Certificate such as the sender's name, a personal message, the recipient's name and an email address for delivery.
Recipients are able to redeem the certificates through delta.com, reservations agents or at airport locations by simply including the redemption code and certificate number from the eGift Certificate when they place their reservation.
Offering eGift Certificates is Delta's latest technology innovation. Delta completed the first phase of more than $140 million in digital customer investments earlier this year including an updated delta.com, self-service kiosks and the introduction of the Fly Delta app for iPad as well as updated iPhone app. The investments in digital channels are part of an effort to deliver greater relevancy to customers based on their past interactions, new product offerings and customer information. Continued updates to digital tools will create a highly personalized online experience and improved focus on the delivery of existing critical features such as flight check-in options, which more than 90 percent of Delta customers utilize during their travel.
