Twelfth edition of 'Internal Auditing Around the World' shares global technological trends and challenges
MENLO PARK, Calif., July 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Protiviti, a global consulting firm, has released the latest edition in its annual series of "Internal Auditing Around the World" books (www.protiviti.com/iaworld). The 2016 edition profiles 22 companies and executives from a variety of industries and locations across the globe to reveal how new technological challenges and trends impact the internal audit function. This year, these perspectives are solely provided by the women leaders of each company's internal audit practice. Protiviti's publication is designed to provide a deeper and more holistic understanding of internal audit's evolution as a crucial strategic business function. Within the publication, senior internal audit professionals share their experiences and current observations to educate and inform their counterparts, executive management and audit committees.
"Many of the internal audit teams we profile are expanding their use of data analytics so they can bring more efficiency to the audit process. Some functions are using data analytics to identify emerging risks and potential fraud and pinpoint cost-saving opportunities throughout their organizations," said Susan Haseley, a managing director and the leader of Protiviti's healthcare and life sciences practice. "Others are working with big data to derive business intelligence that can help internal audit provide management with insights they can apply to business decision-making."
Topics in the 2016 publication include:
- Leveraging technology to connect the dots (Kathy Perrott, Accenture)
- Using internal audit to harness data visualization (Sally Clark, Barclays)
- Cybersecurity coordination with internal audit (Monica Frazer, Baylor Scott & White Health)
- Staying ahead of the digital curve (Kiko Harvey, Delta Air Lines)
- Building a long-term technology viewpoint for leadership (Dominique Vincenti, Nordstrom, Inc.)
- Achieving shorter audits through the use of data analytics (Mari Yonezawa, Obara Group)
"An increasing number of women have become powerful leaders in the internal audit profession. We want to recognize and celebrate their success and contributions to the profession as we tell their organizations' internal audit stories," said Brian Christensen, executive vice president, global internal audit and financial advisory, Protiviti. "'Internal Auditing Around the World' showcases the achievements and vast industry knowledge of 22 talented women and the vital internal audit functions they lead."
