New Edge Networks Implements MPLS Network for Southern Arizona Legal Aid

VANCOUVER, Wash., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- New Edge Networks, the managed services business communications unit of EarthLink Inc. (Nasdaq: ELNK), today announced the completion of an MPLS Network for Southern Arizona Legal Aid.

Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Tucson, AZ that provides free, civil legal aid to qualified low-income individuals. The organization serves nine Arizona counties and 11 Indian reservations from seven offices across the state. Many of its employees telecommute and work remotely from out in the community enrolling and supporting clients.

SALA's work requires real-time access to its client database and excellent communication amongst its staff.  The organization was struggling with low bandwidth at its rural offices, poor connections for its remote workers, slow downloads and session timeouts.  

To improve its operations, SALA selected New Edge Networks as its managed network service provider. New Edge installed an MPLS T-1 based network, which increased the bandwidth at all SALA offices at a lower overall cost. The MPLS network also provided for Quality of Service (QoS) in the network and enabled SALA to implement a Voice over IP solution which resulted in additional cost savings.
