New DIBELS Next Assessment Now Available for Purchase
LONGMONT, Colo., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Sopris, a business unit of Cambium Learning Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: ABCD), announced today that DIBELS® Next, the new version of DIBELS® (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy), the most widely used K-6 screening and progress monitoring system in the United States, is now available for purchase. Originally developed by Dr. Roland H. Good and Dr. Ruth A. Kaminski, DIBELS Next provides specific data that pinpoint where students struggle, making the selection of targeted interventions more accurate and effective.
The recent updates to the popular assessment and progress monitoring tool are based on new research. "Over the past four years, specifically on DIBELS Next, we have worked in 90-100 schools and had more than 25,000 students in our studies," said Dr. Ruth A. Kaminski, Co-creator of DIBELS and DIBELS Next.
"There are the millions of students in addition to the more than 25,000 in the recent studies, who have had reading failures prevented since the inception of DIBELS," said George Logue, President of Sopris. "Relative to screening and progress monitoring, this product changed the landscape in American education."
While retaining the very best of the original assessment, DIBELS Next provides increased ease of use, accuracy of results and addresses comprehension. The assessments:
- Are quick and easy to administer and score
- Identify students who may need intervention support
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
- Support the RtI/Multitiered model
Major advantages of DIBELS Next include, but are not limited to:
- All-new comprehension measure for grades three through six–DIBELS DAZE
- All-new First Sound Fluency measure–replace initial sound fluency and all-new passages for the Oral Reading Fluency measure
- All-new directions, revised scoring rules and easy to implement design
- All-new Web-based data-management and online scoring
- Correlated to NAEP
