New CRL CleanRTP Rapid Transfer Port Is User-Friendly and Customizable
RED WING, Minn., Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Drawing on nearly 70 years of industry experience, Central Research Laboratories (CRL) introduces a completely redesigned rapid transfer port. The new CleanRTP is easier to operate and clean than other rapid transfer ports and is customizable through a best in class range of options.

Rapid transfer ports are used primarily in the pharmaceutical and nuclear research industries to transfer materials into and out of isolators and gloveboxes without breaking containment.
"Our new CleanRTP was developed in response to customer feedback and field research," explains Jeff Graupmann, CRL global product manager for remote handling. "Keeping other RTPs clean can be challenging because they have areas where contaminants can hide. CRL's new CleanRTP design features smooth surfaces and no exposed fasteners, making it easier for customers to sterilize the CleanRTP with traditional cleaning methods. We've also streamlined the safety interlock system to make it more user-friendly. The port interlocks still release only when the beta is fully docked. But now, once the beta is docked, the operator can simply pull the door open, without any additional handle rotation."
CRL offers the CleanRTP with three port door designs to choose from: stainless steel, polypropylene, and liquid transfer. It is available in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet the most demanding transfer applications. The company will also design custom versions of the CleanRTP upon request.
"CRL is not a one-size-fits-all kind of company," says Graupmann. "If a customer needs a unique rapid transfer port for a particular application, we will be happy to work with them to design a specialized CleanRTP."
The new CRL CleanRTP is available worldwide. For more information about CRL manipulation, transfer and remote handling equipment, visit destaco.com/manipulation-transfer-equipment.html or call (651) 388-3565.
