New Contract to Improve the Effectiveness of High-Impact, Evidence-based HIV Interventions Awarded

BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Agency for International Development has awarded the $250 million Strengthening High Impact Interventions for an AIDS-Free Generation (AIDSFree) contract to a consortia that includes Abt Associates.

The consortia is led by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. in partnership with Abt Associates, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), EnCompass, IMA World Health (IMA), The International HIV/AIDS Alliance (The Alliance), Jhpiego, and Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH). AIDSFree aims to improve the effectiveness of high-impact, evidence-based HIV interventions, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission and voluntary medical male circumcision, and accelerate the speed with which these interventions are brought to scale at country-level. 

The project will be implemented over five years, during which Abt will provide leadership in financing, budgeting, costing, and private sector engagement as well as human resources for health.  Abt will also bring expertise in technical areas including:  quality assurance and quality improvement, knowledge management, and behavior change.
