New Browser Tool Places Buying Power in the Hands of the Consumer: Ensures Best Price and Takes the Guesswork Out of Holiday Shopping
- FreePriceAlerts.com Tracks Prices, Sales for Consumers This Holiday Season -
PETERBOROUGH, N.H., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales, discounts and rock-bottom prices are the norm each holiday season, but with so many retailers claiming the best deals, consumers are often stumped on where and when to buy when it comes to getting what they want for the lowest price. FreePriceAlerts.com, the just-launched online tool by myVBO, cuts through retailer claims to help consumers track prices, follow sales and know when and where to make their purchases. The browser tool searches tens of thousands of retail sites to notify consumers instantly of the lowest price for any consumer good on the web, and it displays price comparisons on 13 major shopping sites including Amazon.com, Google, Overstock.com and BestBuy.com. New sites are being added each day. FreePriceAlerts.com is compatible with Firefox and Internet Explorer, with Chrome and Safari versions coming out soon. It is available for free download at www.FreePriceAlerts.com.
Consumers can also sign up for the Premium service of FreePriceAlerts, which allows users to create wish lists that prompt the service to continuously search for the best prices; to set target prices (how much a consumer is willing to pay for a particular item); and to gain access to Price Alert email notifications, price histories, and integrated checkout. If the user chooses, FreePriceAlerts will save purchase histories for easier returns and warranty review. The Premium service is available for $4.95 per month or $24.95 per year.
FreePriceAlerts' groundbreaking technology uses cloud-based servers to seek out, store and track price fluctuations and trends without interfering with a consumer's online shopping. After downloading the browser tool, users shop as usual; as they do, an informational popup appears with links to the lowest-priced retailer and details on potential savings and on price comparisons across the web. Premium users are able to set a target-price alert and can, at any time, click over to the lower-priced option or to continue shopping where they are.
"With web prices fluctuating, often by the minute, it would be impossible to keep up with the best deals," says FreePriceAlerts founder Robert Wilkins, who has spent over 20 years in the online shopping space. "FreePriceAlerts does for consumer products what travel sites have done for plane tickets. There's simply no excuse to pay high prices anymore."
While FreePriceAlerts tracks pricing information and trends, the tool does not track or store any user information or purchase histories. Premium users, however, do have the option of storing their purchase information, which is encrypted and hosted in the Amazon cloud server.
