New Bodog Poker Software Now with Mac Client
LONDON, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The Bodog Poker Network's new software launched in December last year now offers a fully compatible Mac client: when the concept behind the new software was unveiled last year Bodog's Recreational Poker Model was viewed as controversial and keenly dismissed by poker professionals.
Since then many poker rooms have changed their rakeback structure to align with the model and be more attractive to depositing players rather than winning ones. The next stage of model introduced all-anonymous tables making data-mining impossible, again to protect the depositing player. Soon after, Microgaming made all their Heads-Up tables anonymous and PokerStars made moves to block data sites Poker-Edge and Poker Table Ratings (PTR).
As it became apparent that the recreational player was a vital part of the poker eco-system others followed suit. PokerStars recently introduced the casual-player-friendly 'Zoom Poker' and Microgaming, last month, launched their 'True Value' rake system that; "gives greater value to new players, thus encouraging operators to acquire, retain and reactivate recreational players." Sound familiar?
With the market for Apple Macs on an impressive and consistent upward curve* adding the capability was always a priority for the Bodog Poker Network but to get it up so quickly is seen as a huge boost by the Network's CEO, Jonas Odman:
"The Mac client was always a 'must have' offering but to have it up within the first year of the software going live puts us well ahead of where we hoped we would be in terms of player reach at this stage. Now that the Mac client is ready we can concentrate on the first B2C marketing push of the Recreational Poker Model."
* According to AllThingsD: "The Mac has been on a growth tear for a few years now, outperforming the broader PC market in most every sector. Indeed, December 2010 marked the 19th consecutive quarter that it did so." Full article: http://allthingsd.com/20110217/mac-growth-outpaces-market-for-19th-straight-quarter/
