New black-and-white Ricoh printer and MFP advance customers' information mobility via strong dealer support
RICOH MP 401SPF and RICOH SP 4520DN print up to 42 pages per minute, enable mobile printing, and offer a low cost-per-page
MALVERN, Pa., March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Americas Corporation today unveiled two new document imaging products that help individuals and organizations improve their information mobility at the small office and workgroup levels.
The RICOH MP 401SPF black-and-white multifunction product (MFP) with print, copy, fax and color scanning capabilities and the RICOH SP 4520DN black-and-white printer output documents up to 42 pages per minute. They employ Ricoh's new LED imaging technology, which enables 1200-x-1200-dpi resolution printing without compromising rated speed. They also support new workstyles such as mobile printing, and offer an aggressively low cost-per-page.
"These new devices are specifically designed to support Ricoh's dealers as they help customers achieve higher information mobility," said Matt Sakauchi, Vice President, Product Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "Our dealers have specifically requested enhanced capabilities in the important 40 ppm segment of the A4 market to help their customers succeed in this new world of work. These devices answer the call."
For example, dealers have requested faster speeds within smaller footprints, and separate toner cartridges and drums to extend the life of supplies and reduce cost per page. To help customers with mixed fleets shorten their learning curves, the new devices feature a 4.3-inch color touch panel that provides the same user experience found in Ricoh's A3 line (A3 refers to machines capable of printing documents of up to 13.5 x 17 inches).
Advanced paper handling, mobility and energy efficiency
The RICOH MP 401SPF and RICOH SP 4520DN support standard and legal-size paper with a thickness of up to 90lb. Index and 43lb. Bond from every paper tray. Standard integrated duplexing helps keep the devices compact.
To enable seamless mobile printing with these devices, workers can download the RICOH Smart Device Print&Scan app to their smartphones and laptops. An optional connection to Ricoh's Integrated Cloud Environment service equips the RICOH MP 401SPF MFP to leverage popular cloud-based services for document storage via the touch panel.
For example, users can print from or scan directly to cloud-based services, such as DocumentMall®, Evernote®, Dropbox or Google Drive™ without expensive on-site servers, system integration or software updates. The RICOH MP 401SPF MFP also includes optional embedded optical character recognition, which can convert scanned documents into searchable PDFs.
The RICOH MP 401SPF and RICOH SP 4520DN support sustainable business practices with ENERGY STAR 2.0 compliance and, in the case of the RICOH SP 4520DN, an ECO Night Sensor feature that powers the device down when departing employees turn the lights off.
Both devices help to protect important information with the DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS), which destroys latent data stored on the hard disk drive by writing over the latent image after printing, as well as encryption of the optional hard disk drive. They also offer optional proximity card authentication to release documents to their proper owner.
The RICOH MP 401SPF and RICOH SP 4520DN are easy to manage as part of a fleet using RICOH Device Manager NX Lite or @Remote device management software. Both devices are built on the same advanced controller architecture as Ricoh's award-winning A3 product line, which ensures Ricoh's suite of distributed scanning, device management and assessment, and cost recovery software offerings are supported on these more compact workgroup devices.
The new devices are available exclusively through Ricoh's dealer and direct channels. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the RICOH MP 401SPF MFP is $3,310. The MSRP for the RICOH SP 4520DN printer is $1,025.
