MINNEAPOLIS, March 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A new app released this week promises to help you put down the phone and be more present in your life without neglecting your responsibilities as a parent, caregiver, employee or pet owner.
The StatusNowApp allows users to customize real-time information about their availability to family, friends, colleagues, teachers or dog sitters; anyone who might need to reach you during the day.
Users download the StatusNowApp and invite their contacts to connect with them and join their network. When those contacts log into the app, they can see when you will be available and how to reach you, or someone else who can help, in the event of an emergency.
Users create a custom message for times they'll be away from their phone. For example, "I will be in a meeting (or on an airplane, in a class, etc.) and unavailable by phone until 5 p.m. If this is urgent, please call…"
StatusNowApp allows users to group contacts together and create different custom messages for each group. The app syncs with your smartphone calendar, making it easy to plan ahead. You can even set expiration dates for how long a contact receives your status.
The StatusNow App was developed by Susan Melnick, a mother of four young children, who felt obligated to be available by phone around the clock. Melnick realized she was never fully present in anything from yoga class, to book group, to date night with her husband, because she was always checking her phone. "StatusNowApp helps you stay in touch, even when you disconnect," Melnick said. "Be present at work, go for a walk, enjoy dinner with your spouse knowing that you're covered."
Visit StatusNowApp.com to learn more on how the app can be used in schools and other organizations.
StatusNowApp is available for a free trial period on Android and iOS and costs just $.99 per month after that.
