ARLINGTON, Va., June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Aluminum Association announced today that it will move its headquarters to 1400 Crystal Drive in Arlington, VA effective June 22, 2015. The new building is aluminum-clad and is certified Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards. The Association collaborated with CBRE's Nonprofit Practice Group on the move with the goal of a more collaborative space that showcases aluminum and enhances the Association's culture of advocacy.

The new office features 6,300 square feet of dynamic open workspace, designed to increase collaboration across the organization, and membership. A custom built screen that features aluminum coil provided by United Aluminum and Jupiter Aluminum, as well as billet provided by Sapa will be showcased as a new art piece. A system of custom aluminum louvers made from aluminum bar stock, with integrated lighting, will wrap around the reception area for an immersive aluminum feature. Additionally, aluminum is emphasized in construction materials and furniture selections from floor tile accents to door frames to seating selections.

The North American aluminum industry is entering a period of significant growth and innovation. According to recent preliminary Aluminum Association data, the industry shipped an estimated 25.5 billion pounds of aluminum in 2014, the most since 2006 and reflecting 5 percent year-over-year demand growth. From the 2009 baseline, demand in the U.S. and Canada has risen nearly 40 percent. At the same time, Aluminum Association member companies have announced domestic plant expansions and planned investment totaling more than $2.3 billion, intended to capture and meet anticipated demand growth for aluminum in the automotive sector as automakers strive to make lighter and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
