MILAN, Oct. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcantara®, the Italian-made luxury material, is featured on a new luxury version of the classic adidas Gazelle sneaker.
The "concept" sneaker is the result of a collaboration between prominent Japanese and Italian retailers as part of the adidas Consortium Sneakers Exchange.
The new sneaker was designed using materials sourced from the two retailers' respective countries. The shoe's designers utilized ivory-colored Alcantara® for the uppers of the shoe and included an Alcantara brand logo tag on the left shoe.
The Alcantara version of the Gazelle is a collaboration between the Japanese retailer United Arrows & Sons and the Italian menswear retailer Slam Jam. The two companies were exploring how to repurpose high-quality materials for a product that would strike a chord with fans of contemporary sneaker culture.
In addition to the Alcantara upper, the Gazelle concept features 100-percent-cotton Ikeuchi Organic toweling for the interior of the sneaker. It also has a tongue borrowed from the adidas Samba with co-branding on various parts of the shoe. The result is an understated sneaker with a subtle, low-key elegance.
The Gazelle concept sneaker is available from the United Arrows and Slam Jam websites, and from adidas Consortium retailers. The retail price in the U.S. is $150.
