New Ad Highlights How Senator Rubio's Threat To Filibuster Background Checks Makes Florida Less Safe

NEW YORK, April 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mayors Against Illegal Guns today released a new television ad in Florida that highlights how Senator Marco Rubio's threats to filibuster a vote on commonsense reforms like comprehensive background checks would make Floridians less safe.  Looking past Florida and toward a likely run for the presidency, Rubio's threat to filibuster is a play for NRA support and defies the 91 percent of Floridians who want background checks for all gun sales.

Marco Rubio – a new senator, but already looking past Florida, thinking of running for President. 

And that has Rubio running to the right – opposing a bill on comprehensive background checks. 

Rubio would let criminals and the dangerously mentally ill get guns without a background check.   

Even worse, Rubio has said he would filibuster the vote in Washington – so the Senate won't even be able to vote on background checks.
