New Ad: Businesses, Utilities Support California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard
Ad says standard "strengthens the economy and supports thousands of California jobs"
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, a diverse group of business leaders from across the state, representing tens of thousands of California workers – including the state's largest electricity and natural gas providers and two of the world's leading carmakers – released a new advertisement supporting California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard. The Low Carbon Fuel Standard requires transportation fuels to be 10 percent lower in "carbon intensity" by 2020 – by replacing more petroleum fuel with clean electricity, natural gas and renewable fuels.
This Friday in Sacramento, the California Air Resources Board will consider technical amendments to the standard originally adopted in 2009, and hear a report on staff's progress implementing the rule. The signers of the ad believe the Low Carbon Fuel Standard will stimulate investments in the state's clean fuels industry, attract clean energy jobs to California, reduce our reliance on oil, and improve stability of fuel prices.
