New 2 Hour Educational Learning Labs at MD&M West Will Feature Baxter Bioscience, BMW, Dell, GE Healthcare, Mattel, Northrup Grumman, Starbucks and Other Leading Groups in Design, Manufacturing, Engineering and Automation

UBM Canon is pleased to deliver 30 educational Learning Labs at MD&M West, that appeal to expo attendees across all seven co-located industry shows taking place February 11-13, 2014 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Each Learning Lab will be led by industry experts and practitioners who will explore practical case studies, technical innovations, and new technologies to deliver solutions across multiple key industry segments:
Design and Manufacturing:
Paul Selzer, from Baxter Bioscience will provide new information on wireless technology to optimize automation on the factory floor. Stefan Schmidt, a manager of plant development at BMW will help engineers and manufacturing professionals gain an understanding of how continuous improvement strategies can be linked with quality and lean tools. Both Mattel and Smashbox Cosmetics will participate in a Learning Lab designed to help demonstrate how retail brands can grow through package design that expands brand appeal to the consumer. Finally, Professor Malcolm Keif, from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo will examine how integrating mobile and social media technologies with interactive packaging helps to gain insight into end users.
Medical:
Hear from leading healthcare and medical groups like Medtronic, Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson Company, Fountain ValleyRegionalHospital and more. Furthermore, James Hedrick of IBM Research will explore the latest strategies and technologies to reduce infection and thrombosis risk in medical implants and GE Healthcare's Russ Roberson, will cover tools to enhance quality control systems.
