STERLING, Va., Dec. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Neustar, Inc., (NYSE: NSR), a leader in providing carriers and enterprises with solutions for sending calls, messages, and content across networks worldwide, today unveiled how its IP enablers drive network efficiencies and improve service delivery in cable operators' networks. Neustar's IP-enablers offer centralized routing along with addressing and policy analytics that can facilitate cable operators' migration to an all-IP network. Further, these solutions enable operators to optimize cost and performance for the voice component of the triple play of voice, cable TV, and Internet services.

Industry analyst firm, Yankee Group, estimates that IP-based communications traffic in North America will grow over 150% during the next five years. As capabilities of end-user devices increase to allow for greater consumption of video and other digital communications, the demands on operators' networks will continue unabated. At the same time, operators need to manage their traditional services that have not yet migrated to an IP infrastructure.
"Across the industry, we are seeing MSOs deploy IP networks to deliver blended voice, video, and data services," said Brian Partridge, vice president of Yankee Group's Anywhere Network team. "As operators are increasing the number and complexity of services offered, having a central platform for both legacy and next-generation products can simplify deployments, improve manageability, and quicken return on investment."
The centralized routing policy functionality of Neustar's IP-enablers can help operators meet current network challenges by consolidating the addressing and routing functionality from across islands of IP network devices, application delivery platforms, and the traditional voice network. With this solution, operators are now able to view the entire voice and messaging network holistically. Further, Neustar's IP-enablers can be delivered as a cloud-based service lowering capital expenses, increasing functionality, and improving network coverage.
"We are in the midst of a market transition, as operators balance the demands of new multimedia services and the requirements of their traditional networks," said Steve Edwards, senior vice president, Carrier Services at Neustar. "The migration to IP-based networks is not a new phenomena, but the operators are now focusing on the policy and addressing portions of their networks. Neustar's solution provides operators with a centralized routing policy framework and a holistic approach to routing management across traditional and next-generation infrastructures. This will not only improve network efficiency, but increase the value operators can bring to their customers."
Neustar's solution, targeted at cable operators, incorporates components of its IP-enablers, including:

- Margin Management – Centralized flexible, detailed analytics and real network business modeling.
- Real-time Routing – Advanced routing analytics engine supporting cost, price, time, quality, and fraud algorithms.
