Today, the UltraDNS infrastructure is one of the largest and most widely distributed of its kind in the industry. With over 10 years of history and over 3,000 customers across diverse industries, UltraDNS is among the leading enterprise managed DNS services in the world. Neustar's UltraDNS infrastructure consists of 16 strategically distributed and redundant public network nodes across six continents, with additional private nodes collocated with leading ISPs. The UltraDNS Directory Service Platform is a fully redundant, carrier-grade installation comprised of best-in-class equipment and patented technologies across multiple locations around the globe.
"Launching our network node in South America is a significant achievement for UltraDNS and a critical milestone in Neustar's international expansion," said Alex Berry, senior vice president of Neustar's Internet Infrastructure Services group. "We are thrilled to be offering our customers an even better level of service. The UltraDNS infrastructure now provides thousands of our enterprise clients – including .CO, the country code top-level domain for the Republic of Colombia – a global and fully integrated network platform to support the most demanding business critical websites."
The announcement of the new Colombia node follows the award in 2009 to .CO Internet S.A.S. – a strategic venture between Neustar and Arcelandia S.A., a Colombian entity with interests in a variety of Internet-related businesses – of a 10-year contract to promote, manage, and operate the technical infrastructure of the .CO domain. Neustar serves as the .CO registry operator, and provides secure and robust registry services to a select list of registrars and advanced DNS capabilities to the .CO domain. .CO Internet S.A.S. recently celebrated the highly successful launch of the .CO domain, during which over 90,000 names were registered worldwide in the first 15 minutes of general availability. At this writing, over 370,000 .CO names have been registered.
"We are pleased that our partnership with Neustar has enabled technology advancements that will allow the citizens of Colombia and the entire region to use and enjoy the Internet in a far more secure and robust manner," added Juan Diego Calle, chief executive officer of .CO Internet S.A.S.
