Neuropathy Action Foundation Announces 8th Annual "Neuropathy Action Awareness Day," Largest Neuropathy-related Patient Advocacy Event In The United States
Registration Now Open for Free LA-Area Event Dedicated to Raising Awareness of Neuropathy and Improving the Quality of Life for Neuropathy Patients; Event to Feature 'Leave it to Beaver' Star Jerry Mathers and Leading Medical Professionals
LOS ANGELES, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Neuropathy Action Foundation (NAF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to providing neuropathy patients with the resources and information necessary to improve their quality of life, announced that registration is now open for its 8th Annual "Neuropathy Action Awareness Day," a free, all-day educational event on June 11th in Los Angeles. Neuropathy Action Awareness Day will be the largest neuropathy gathering in the United States this year and will bring together patients and caregivers from across the country to learn about neuropathy, strategies for managing the painful condition, and empowering patients to become advocates for their own health care.
Neuropathy Action Awareness Day provides an opportunity for patients to interact with other patients, providers and exhibitors. The free event consists of a full day of educational presentations, luncheon, exhibit area and silent auction. NAF will award American television icon Jerry Mathers the 2014 "You Are Our Hero Award." Other speakers will include:
- Richard Lewis, MD, Director EMG Laboratory and Co-Director Neuromuscular Clinic, Cedars-Sinai, will illustrate the understanding of a neurologist's approach to the diagnosis and treatment of neuropathy;
- Said R. Beydoun, MD, Professor of Neurology, Keck Medical Center of USC University of Southern California, will discuss treatment options for painful and non-painful neuropathies;
- Alon Avidan, MD, Professor of Neurology, UCLA and Director, UCLA Sleep Disorders Center and Neurology Clinic, will address sleep disorders 101 for the patient with neuropathy;
- Judy Carter, World-renowned speaker, comic and author will discuss the "message of you" and the power and humor of your story;
- Lee C. Rogers, D.P.M., Medical Director, Amputation Prevention Center at Sherman Oaks Hospital will discuss Diabetes and Neuropathy.
