IRVINE, Calif., June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Neudesic announces the release of Pulse 4.0, social business software featuring innovative Social Human Capital Management (HCM) functionality that enables Pulse users to not only identify experts within their organization based on requisite skills, but also cross reference those skills with other factors such as geographic location, availability, certifications and more.

The power of Pulse 4.0's new advanced people search functionality goes beyond the typical discovery features of other enterprise collaboration products, according to Neudesic CEO Parsa Rohani. "People are the single biggest investment for any company," said Rohani. "The more tools we can give our clients to help them maximize that investment, the more competitive they will be."
"We were thrilled when Neudesic outlined their roadmap for a business collaboration network that allows us to identify and endorse the expertise and skills of our employees," said Tom Baldwin, chief knowledge officer of global law firm Reed Smith LLP, a Pulse customer. "We look forward to having a consistent method to recognize and share what our people do best."
DEG Digital recently selected Neudesic Pulse as the business collaboration product for Fuse Portal Solution, its industry-specific SharePoint-based web portal solutions, because Pulse integrates seamlessly with SharePoint and offers a secure on-premise deployment option. The new search features of Pulse 4.0 enable DEG and other Pulse customers to expand the capabilities of their portals and extranets, further driving adoption of SharePoint within their organizations.
"Neudesic Pulse already provides a unique and critical collaboration component to our SharePoint portal solutions," said Joe Cromer, DEG's director of enterprise collaboration. "The expanded capabilities of 4.0 will further set our solutions apart from the competition."
Jason Noble, general manager of product development at Neudesic, described how a company might leverage the new search functionality of Pulse 4.0. "Let's say, for instance, a mergers & acquisitions firm in Los Angeles gets wind that a Tokyo-based car company is looking to sell its U.S. manufacturing facility on the east coast. A quick search using Pulse 4.0 would allow that firm to identify which of its deal makers have automotive industry expertise, speak Japanese, and are available to travel in the next few days."
The new HCM features of Pulse 4.0 allow users to:
- Self-declare skills
- Recommend skills to co-workers
- Endorse co-workers' skills
- Import a skills dataset
- Centrally manage a list of available skills
- Build custom user profiles that include skills, experience, education and certifications
- Create searchable profile properties
- Search for people by skills, location and other custom properties
- Identify experts with supporting security controls
- Import profile information from external data sources such as LinkedIn
