DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Businesses reached a milestone this year, as the percentage of women in senior leadership roles has reached 25% for the first time, according to Grant Thornton. The Network of Executive Women (NEW) seeks to improve those odds through the advancement of women, growing businesses, and transforming the retail and consumer packaged goods industry through the power of its community. This year, NEW has honored Kristine Pettoni, Associate Partner at Clarkston Consulting, as the national recipient of the NEW 2017 Bobbie O'Hare Best of the Best Leader Award. With recognition at the heart of its mission, NEW chooses the "best of the best" from each region annually, and selects one national winner from those regional leaders to receive the Bobbie O'Hare Award.
The announcement was made during the 2017 NEW Leadership Summit in Washington D.C., one of the top women's leadership events in the retail and consumer packaged goods industry. "Kristine has made significant contributions to the Atlanta Region year after year, which sets Kristine apart from all other members. She consistently exceeds any expectations of her performance and engagement to ensure our region brings value to its members and to NEW National," stated Atlanta Region Co-Treasurer, Julie Stone.
Jenny McLean, the Managing Partner of Clarkston's retail practice, has been with Clarkston for over 20 years. McLean explains what an honor it is for the retail practice and for Kristine to receive this award, "Clarkston is extremely proud of Kristine for her accomplishments both inside and outside of Clarkston. She embodies Clarkston's core value of promoting diversity of all kinds in the workplace. Not only is she well deserving of this award for her unwavering commitment to NEW, but she also deserves recognition for carrying this same dedication to her clients day-in and day-out. We are proud to have her on our team."
In order to be eligible for the Bobbie O'Hare Best of the Best Leader Award, members must provide significant contributions not only to their local chapter, region, and NEW national, but also to the consumer products and retail industries as a whole.
Pettoni is grateful for the connection she experiences with NEW, "I am humbled and grateful to be honored in this way. Much of my career success is due to the connection with others in the industry who share my mindset, my passions and most importantly, my struggles. It's the inspiration I find at NEW that pushes me to continue to climb the ladder as a female in a male dominated industry CPG and Consulting."
