Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship New England Announces Adopt-A-Class Program
Communispace kicks off program by "adopting" students in Boston's Quincy Upper School
BOSTON, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The New England chapter of The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), an international non-profit dedicated to inspiring young people from low-income communities to stay in school and recognize business opportunities, today announced the Adopt-A-Class program as a way for businesses to give back to the community. Through this active philanthropic program, businesses underwrite a NFTE classroom, have the opportunity to volunteer throughout the school year, and help high school students learn entrepreneurial skills and create business plans.
Communispace, the leader in providing online consumer insights communities for the world's most esteemed brands, is the first business to take advantage of the Adopt-A-Class program. Headquartered in Boston with a worldwide presence, Communispace has adopted the NFTE classroom at Boston's Quincy Upper School. In addition to underwriting the program, Communispace employees visit the school's NFTE class to speak about relevant business topics and work one-on-one with students on the development and presentation of their original business plans, the final project for the course.
"We couldn't be more thrilled about adopting the NFTE students at Quincy Upper School," said Diane Hessan, CEO of Communispace. "Our goal is to enrich the NFTE curriculum and bring entrepreneurship and business concepts to life. Our employees help these students develop the entrepreneurial mindset necessary to take ownership of their future. The opportunity to work with these students has been energizing for our entire company."
"We feel strongly that introducing our NFTE students to the local entrepreneurial economy outside the classroom is essential to their overall business education," said Jennifer Green, executive director of NFTE New England. "Communispace is well on its way to setting the benchmark for future Adopt-A-Class program partners. Companies like Communispace help our students realize that their future is their business."
