NetWitness(R) Receives U.S. Patent for Network Analysis
HERNDON, Va., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- NetWitness Corporation, the world leader in advanced threat intelligence and real-time network forensics, announced today that it has been granted another patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, this one covering the apparatus and methods it uses for network analysis.
This new patent expands on an existing patent that protects NetWitness' method of capture, reassembly, port-agnostic service identification, and recursive data extraction -- a fundamental method for network and application layer network forensics. This second patent, filed in 2002, protects a core analytic technology in the NetWitness NextGen™ product suite, and focuses on the unique manner in which NetWitness models and organizes captured network data.
"This additional patent affirms the unique value of NetWitness' growing intellectual property portfolio," said Brian Girardi, Director of Product Management for NetWitness Corporation. "The issued patent predates recent developments in threat analysis and network capture, validating the approach on which NetWitness has focused for years. As the market leader, we will continue to innovate and deploy the most capable solutions to deal with advanced security threats."
These patented methods are components of the NetWitness network forensics technology, provide an effective means for addressing real-time advanced threats, and are underpinnings of NetWitness' award-winning interface and unmatched analytical capabilities. NetWitness continues to develop and innovate in the areas of cyber security, distributed systems architecture, real-time data management, and advanced threat analysis solutions for government and commercial markets.
