Netskope Safely Enables Plex's Cloud App Security Strategy
Fast-growing Silicon Valley startup relies on Netskope to provide key insights into usage trends on important cloud apps, including Google Drive and GitHub
LOS ALTOS, Calif., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Netskope, the leader in safe cloud enablement, today announced that Plex, a fast-growing technology startup, has selected Netskope to help monitor and safely enable and reduce risk for its growing cloud app ecosystem. Plex, whose workforce spans more than 20 separate locations, cited Netskope's data loss prevention and introspection features as significant factors in choosing Netskope.
"Netskope helps us safely operate a number of critical cloud business services while reducing the chances of exposing our business unnecessarily," said Scott Olechowski, Chief Product Officer and co-founder of Plex. "It was important for us to find a solution that provided robust DLP capabilities and the ability to do granular policy enforcement across the broad set of apps that we use — Netskope stood out as a leader in these areas."
Netskope enables organizations to achieve granular visibility into data movement inside and outside of cloud apps, helping to determine risk and set security policies. During the Netskope proof-of-concept, Plex used the Netskope introspection and data loss prevention capabilities within their Google Apps for Work environment. This meant that data already residing in Google Drive could be inspected for intellectual property and other sensitive files. Plex also put the Netskope Active Platform in place to stop out-of-policy downloads of source code from GitHub in real-time.
"Plex is a fast-growing company with an increasingly global presence that requires the ability to proactively monitor cloud app usage trends," said Sanjay Beri, chief executive officer and founder for Netskope. "When you've got globally distributed teams and your business is frequently originating and sharing proprietary data through cloud apps, being out in front from a security point of view is absolutely critical."
