NetLearning Offering Additional e-Learning Courses From The American Heart Association
New Courses Build on NetLearning's Extensive Courseware Catalog
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- NetLearning, part of Cengage Learning and a leading provider of online courses and e-learning software for health care workers and hospital administrators, today announced it is offering five e-Learning courses from The American Heart Association (AHA). The new courses are offered online through NetLearning's learning management system, and will help healthcare assistants, aides, technicians, nurses, physicians, emergency medical services personnel and other healthcare professionals obtain new and renewal certifications in cardiac care.
"We are excited to offer these life-saving courses to our customers," said Cathy Esperti, vice president, NetLearning. "Customers within our nationwide network of over 500 healthcare organizations will now be able to complete these courses online at their own pace through our learning management system."
The AHA courses are developed using the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, and feature interactive question and answer and video segments to reinforce learning and apply material to real-life situations. The five new courses are:
- HeartCode™ BLS part 1 - Using eSimulation technology, this course allows students to virtually "treat" adult and infant sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) patients within two simulated cases. Students then receive step-by-step feedback through debriefing that educates them on correct and incorrect actions taken. HeartCode BLS Part 1 also includes cognitive BLS lessons where students learn the BLS algorithm through interaction and games. Hyperlinks to relevant material within the AHA's BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual are available, and the full text may be accessed online for up to 2 years from license activation.
- HeartCode™ ACLS part 1 - Through interactive case-based micro-simulation technology, this course teaches:
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicated resuscitation outcomes
- Management of cardiac arrest until return of spontaneous circulation, termination of resuscitation, or transfer of care
- Recognition of life threatening clinical situations such as stroke
