Netherlands Institute for Safety Awards Contract to Environmental Tectonics Corporation's Simulation Division to Upgrade Their Advanced Disaster Management Simulator
SOUTHAMPTON, Pa., May 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Tectonics Corporation's (OTC Bulletin Board: ETCC) ("ETC" or the "Company") Simulation Division, located in Orlando, FL., is pleased to announce that the Netherlands Institute for Safety (NIFV), has contracted ETC Simulation to expand their existing Advanced Disaster Management Simulator (ADMS) system. NIFV has been utilizing the ADMS system for 10 years, with more than twenty (20) ADMS-COMMAND systems currently in use across the Netherlands. ADMS is used by NIFV within their training and research programs. NIFV also provides use of their ADMS system to other emergency management organizations, including the Police Academy and various Safety Regions throughout the country.
The new contract includes the delivery of ADMS-Europe, with more than 70 Dutch response vehicles and crews, and high-fidelity incident locations including a City, Residential Area, Industrial Area, Port, and Airport. At these incident locations, NIFV will be able to create unlimited exercises with the new ADMS Scenario Generator. A diverse library of objects has been defined for incorporation within these locations, including crowds, victims, vehicles, aircraft, fire, HAZMAT leaks, fencing and debris fields. The objects are embedded with the same dynamic simulation capabilities for which ADMS is known, allowing the virtual responders, and the incident, to progress based solely on the decisions made by the commanders.
"This is the next generation ADMS that we and our Dutch clients have been looking for. The scenario generating tools will allow us to create any scenario needed, and will increase the instructional staff's control over the development of the exercise. At the same time, the quality of the overall simulation and visualization are improving, resulting in greater on-scene dynamics," said Eric Didderen, senior trainer and ADMS Project Manager at NIFV. "Trainees will definitely benefit from this as we will be able to add new, thought-provoking conditions into an even more life-like scene. Our objective at NIFV is to prepare responders and incident commanders for live exercises, and ultimately real world events. ADMS helps us do that."
Marco van Wijngaarden, President of ETC Simulation, stated, "NIFV's decision to continue their long-standing relationship with ETC Simulation is a notable milestone for us. We strive to provide the most advanced training solutions to our clients and to develop lifetime relationships with them through our unrivaled commitment to total support. This contract validates that we are achieving our goals. NIFV has demonstrated their confidence and trust in both our company and the ADMS training system. We look forward to celebrating our ten year relationship at this year's International Users Conference in Orlando, Florida."
The ADMS virtual reality team training system provides emergency responders, from tactical to strategic levels, a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for their training needs. Due to the high-end simulation of incidents, personnel and resources, trainees are immersed within the training exercise while in a controlled and safe environment. ADMS combines physics-based simulation, embedded artificial intelligence, photorealistic visualizations, and ambient sounds into a very realistic and interactive training environment. First introduced in 1994, ADMS is utilized worldwide for emergency management training on local, regional and national levels, enhancing the all-hazard, all-agency objective of preparedness.
