Nestle Waters North America Provides 800,000 Bottles of Water to Aid Relief Efforts in Missouri
STAMFORD, Conn., May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestle Waters North America is arranging for the immediate delivery of 800,000 bottles of water – through relief partners AmeriCares and Gleaning for the World – to health facilities and other relief centers following the devastating tornado in Joplin, Mo., on Sunday, May 22.
Fifteen truckloads of Nestle Waters Ozarka and Nestle Pure Life bottled water brands are being distributed by Gleaning for the World throughout Joplin. An additional six truckloads are being delivered by AmeriCares to health facilities, Feeding America food banks in Kansas City and Carthage, Mo., and to the College Heights Christian Church, located in the heart of Joplin. Nestle Waters' Hawkins and Dallas, Texas, bottling facilities are providing these supplies.
Located 45 miles from Joplin, Nestle Waters' team in Rogers, Ark., is also organizing personal care kits for delivery through The American Red Cross.
The Joplin tornado is the latest in a series of humanitarian crises in the central and southern U.S. In late April, Nestle Waters partnered with AmeriCares and Feeding America to deliver more than 265,000 bottles of water to food banks and shelters aiding tornado survivors in Alabama and Tennessee, and worked with The American Red Cross to provide relief to victims of recent flooding in Mississippi.
Those interested in aiding relief efforts can support the work of AmeriCares, Gleaning for the World and The American Red Cross.
