Nestle® Pure Life® Purified Water Supports The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® In Its Mission To Find Prevention And A Cure
"Pink Pack" program has raised more than $2.5 million to fund breast cancer research grants
STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Currently, 1 in 8 women living in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, as well as more than 2,000 men*. Knowing that the disease affects so many, the makers of Nestle® Pure Life® bottled water will again support breast cancer awareness and research with its "Pink Pack" retail program, kicking off this October. This will be the fourth year that Nestle Pure Life has sported the pink ribbon logo of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and supported advanced and promising breast cancer research that will help lead to prevention and a cure. Currently, 91 cents of every dollar spent by BCRF is directed towards breast cancer research and awareness programs.
Every Nestle Pure Life "Pink Pack" marked with a special pink ribbon, helps support the donation to BCRF, with a minimum donation this year of $750,000 and a maximum of $1,000,000. Additionally, the brand is inviting consumers to join its effort by making their own contributions towards the cause by visiting the Nestle Pure Life Facebook page or a dedicated "Pink Pack" page on BCRF's Time For Research fundraising website, where donors can sponsor research time.
"Nestle Pure Life is very passionate about fostering health and wellness, and we understand that breast cancer is a health issue that hits close to home for many of our consumers," said Hillary Fleming, who manages the program for Nestle Waters North America. "We are proud to have increased our donations to BCRF year after year and to provide consumers with ways to join the fight."
The 2013 donation will renew support to two BCRF grants funded in past years and provide support to a new grant – to be announced at BCRF's annual Symposium and Awards Luncheon in NYC on Oct. 15. The grants being renewed focus on alleviating negative side effects from breast cancer treatment, drugs to prevent breast cancer in those with the BRCA-mutation (the breast cancer susceptibility gene) and understanding the development of premalignant cells to cancer in an effort to develop new strategies for prevention.
"The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has partnered with Nestle Pure Life since 2010, and year after year, this phenomenal program increases worldwide awareness for breast cancer and mobilizes its loyal customers to make a difference," said Myra Biblowit, President & CEO, BCRF. "At BCRF, we value partners who use every day, lifestyle products to successfully urge the public to share in our mission of prevention and a cure in our lifetime."
Available at retailers nationwide, as well as in Canada, the special packs are marked with a symbolic pink ribbon and the BCRF logo. The "Pink Pack" offerings include the .5L 20pk – a new SKU for this year, .5L 24pk, 28pk, 32pk, 8oz. 24pk, and 3L bottle.
