Nestlé Health Science Develops Recipes for Blended Diets Using Compleat® Formulas as a Base
Homemade Blenderized Tube Feedings Allow Patients to Experience a Variety of Real Foods and Become Involved in Mealtime
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., May 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nestlé Health Science introduces homemade blenderized tube-feeding recipes using Compleat®, Compleat® Pediatric and Compleat® Pediatric Reduced Calorie formulas as a base. As many as 30 breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack recipes for blended diets can be accessed on www.myCompleat.com. The website features downloadable recipe booklets and recipe videos created to help patients and caregivers blenderize Compleat® formulas with additional real food ingredients.
"Homemade blenderized tube feedings allow patients to include a variety of real foods in their diet and provide a way for caregivers to involve their loved one in family mealtime, but preparing homemade tube feedings providing complete and balanced nutrition exclusively from conventional foods can be challenging," said Carol Siegel, MS, RD, Director of Medical Affairs for Nestlé Health Science's Medical Nutrition business in the United States. "Using a Compleat formula as a base for a home blenderized tube feeding is convenient and provides all required daily nutrients."
The recipe booklets available on www.myCompleat.com offer kitchen, storage, preparation and feeding tips, as well as instructions on preparing blenderized recipes with Compleat® formulas. For easy kitchen reference, a two-page guide on preparing a homemade blenderized tube feeding can also be downloaded. Before starting or switching to a homemade tube-feeding regimen, patients and caregivers should consult with their healthcare professional.
The new Compleat® family of tube-feeding formulas used as a base in the blenderized tube-feeding recipes now include:
- A blend of six fruit and vegetable ingredients (tomatoes, peaches, green beans, carrots, cranberry juice concentrate, and peas)
- Brown rice syrup – no corn ingredients
- No soy ingredients
- Protein from milk protein concentrate, pea protein concentrate, and dehydrated chicken powder
