Nespresso Sponsors 2017 Tribeca Film Festival And Invites Aspiring Filmmakers To Compete In International Filmmaking Contest
Content Creators Share Their Unique Stories Through the Theme of "You Have The Power To…"
NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nespresso, the worldwide pioneer and reference in premium, single-serve coffee, today announces a sponsorship with the Tribeca Film Festival® and the launch of its second annual international filmmaking contest, Nespresso Talents 2017. Both Nespresso and Tribeca Film Festival celebrate storytelling as a powerful tool to connect with the world, whether it's through a quality coffee narrative or engaging cinematography. For the Nespresso Talents contest, content creators, from amateur to established filmmakers, are invited to offer their perspective on the common theme "You have the power to ..." and visually tell the story of how someone or something has the power to change situations or make a difference, no matter how large or small. Three entrants from the U.S. will join Nespresso at the highly-regarded Tribeca Film Festival to compete for the ultimate prize of a viewing of their work alongside their international peers at the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival. All entrants can submit their short films from now until April 7, 2017 on Nespresso.com/talents.
Nespresso is always looking to push the boundaries of innovation and the Nespresso Talents program demonstrates just that, by tapping into cultural trends and inviting entrants to explore their creativity using a completely new vertical storytelling format (9:16). While landscape looks great on TV or in the cinema, vertical video is made for mobile and has grown 600% in the last five years. With 58% of video worldwide being watched on phones and tablets, more and more filmmakers and content creators are creating vertical videos to keep up with the times.
"At Nespresso, we have a rich narrative around our quality coffee which is rooted in innovation and sustainability," said Davide Moro, Vice President of Marketing, Nespresso USA. "We are excited to partner with Tribeca Film Festival, who is also dedicated to meaningful storytelling and innovation, to inspire young filmmakers to share the power of their story through our Nespresso Talents contest."
Though the larger global Nespresso Talents program is in its second year, this is the first time there will be a relationship with Tribeca Film Festival. Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2001 and celebrates the power of storytelling in a variety of forms – from film to TV, VR to online work, and music to gaming. As a platform for creative expression, independent filmmaking, and immersive entertainment, the Tribeca Film Festival champions emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning filmmakers and creators, curates innovative experiences, and introduces new technology and ideas through premieres, exhibitions, talks, and live performances.
"We are delighted to have Nespresso join us as the Official Coffee at this year's Tribeca Film Festival," said Andrew Essex, Tribeca Enterprises, CEO. "Their dedication and support of young aspiring filmmakers and innovative storytelling aligns strongly with our own, and we are very much looking forward to viewing the submissions from U.S. Nespresso Talents contest."
As part of the Tribeca Film Festival sponsorship and being the Official Coffee, Nespresso will host an exclusive screening of the three U.S. Nespresso Talents finalists, as well as a variety of other events, including VIP screenings and after parties. There will also be a dedicated Nespresso Lounge at the Tribeca Festival Hub at Spring Studios where guests will enjoy the Ultimate Coffee Experience throughout the Festival. The newly launched VertuoPlus machine will be available for visitors to brew high quality coffee and espresso with a simple touch of a button.

About the Tribeca Film Festival
The Tribeca Film Festival brings together visionaries across industries and diverse audiences to celebrate the power of storytelling. A platform for independent filmmaking, creative expression and immersive entertainment, Tribeca supports emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning filmmakers, curates innovative and interactive experiences, and introduces new technology and ideas through panels, premieres, exhibitions, and live performances.
Founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001, following the attacks on the World Trade Center, Tribeca has evolved from an annual event to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of lower Manhattan to a gathering place for filmmakers, artists, innovators, and the global creative community. Through programs that embrace storytelling in all of its expansive forms—film, TV, online work, VR/AR, and music—TFF reimagines the cinematic experience and explores how art can unite communities. This year's festival runs April 19-30, 2017. www.tribecafilm.com #Tribeca2017
