NeoSpire Managed Hosting Once Again Receives Exception-Free SAS-70 Type II Assessment
Independent Audit Report Provides Assurance to Companies Subject to Sarbanes-Oxley Standards and Other Security-Conscious Firms
DALLAS, March 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- NeoSpire, a mission-critical managed hosting company, today announced that it has again received an exception-free SAS-70 Type II assessment in the latest audit of its control environment. The audit, performed by a Top Three national auditing firm, assures publicly-traded companies, and others that depend on a strong security infrastructure, that their hosting environment is maintained to the highest information security standards.
The SAS-70 Type II assessment is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. An exception-free SAS-70 Type II report is well known by organizations in the United States and Europe as a reliable indicator that a service provider has implemented an effective control environment. The report is also acknowledged as a critical component due to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
"Very, very few hosted service providers are able to claim an exception-free SAS-70 Type II report. NeoSpire has achieved this distinction multiple times," noted Sean Bruton, Senior Director of Client Services for NeoSpire. "In an era when a strong data protection is essential, NeoSpire customers can be assured of both a physical environment and an operational culture that is among the very best in the industry."
NeoSpire's SAS-70 controls cover physical security of the facilities, environmental controls, network security, server security, backup and restore, problem management, and change management. Unlike a Type I report, which describes a service organization's description of its controls at a specific point in time, a Type II report includes detailed testing of the organization's controls over a minimum six-month period.
Independent auditors BKD, LLP, in its most recent Type II report, found NeoSpire's controls to be effective and implemented consistently without exception.
Under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, most companies require an SAS-70 Type II assessment from their service providers to evaluate controls, data centers, security, backup and system availability. NeoSpire's SAS-70 report permits the company to deliver controls confirmation in accordance with the provisions of the SOX Act.
