NeoNova is changing TV with ViewLocal service
Internet providers can now provide affordable local channels over managed broadband
RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NeoNova®, a broadband division of NRTC and an industry leader in cloud-based technologies and services for regional telcos and ISPs, today announced that ViewLocal™, the successor to the company's popular YourStreamTV product, is now available for affiliate service providers in local markets nationwide.
ViewLocal from NeoNova and NRTC delivers local channels via a provider's secure broadband network, allowing customers to say "goodbye" to weak over-the-air signals and "hello" to high-quality viewing on multiple screens and devices. It is now available to ISPs who want to give their customers live, local television channels via their managed broadband network.
ViewLocal allows affiliates to provide local broadcast channels and local content via Roku devices, iOS and Android mobile apps and web browsers, while remaining in accordance with retransmission agreements. NeoNova handles the authentication, security and deployment logistics, and can also provide custom marketing materials. Customers simply contact their provider to create an account, set up their device or app, and start streaming live, local channels. ViewLocal requires retransmission rights from local TV affiliates, and NeoNova is working closely with providers across the country to make it available in their areas.
"ViewLocal is the result of understanding today's media landscape and how our customers want to bring video solutions to market without paying exorbitant amounts of money," said NeoNova President Jason McGinnis. "This solution delivers high-quality, low-cost local television options that can easily scale and stay ahead of the technology curve. We're excited that we can now offer our ISP partners the ability to provide both local and, through our Sling TV referral agreement, national content in easy-to-use applications at affordable prices on almost any device."
NeoNova and NRTC have created this latest offering in collaboration with Accedo®, who will help NeoNova keep up with the complexities of the new landscape by integrating emerging technologies into ViewLocal.
"We're proud to be working alongside NeoNova and NRTC to help bring stable, affordable local video to rural America," says Perry Weinstein, General Manager of Accedo. "By building the ViewLocal service on top of AppGrid, which decouples the UX from the app itself, Accedo enables the NeoNova business model whereby a single code base can be repurposed for multiple telcos, without a single line of extra code."
NeoNova also has a referral program allowing affiliates to promote Sling TV, a live and on-demand television service where providers can refer their customers to Sling TV to get some of the most popular national channels like ESPN, AMC and HGTV on TVs, tablets, and phones. By adding the Sling TV referral program to ViewLocal, regional telcos can provide a complete video solution with both national and local content over a managed broadband connection.
ViewLocal is a cost-effective alternative to cable and satellite subscriptions, giving customers stable local channels via their provider's secure broadband network instead of inconsistent over-the-air signals. The easy-to-use ViewLocal interface can be branded by a local ISP and includes a channel guide for customers to search and quickly find programming. ViewLocal is also designed to be family-friendly, allowing customers to set up multiple profiles with specific permissions to make sure their children are viewing only appropriate content.
