NeoLAB Convergence Inc. Files Counter-Suit Against Anoto Patent Infringement Claims
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NeoLAB Convergence Inc., developer of the award-winning smartpen, Neo smartpen N2, announced today that it has begun a process for patent invalidation in the patent-infringement suits filed by Anoto AB in June and July 2015.
The lawsuit, filed in Japan, is based on JP Patent 4245474, JP Patent 4613251 and JP Patent 4928696. NeoLAB's products utilize more advanced technologies which are not covered by Anoto's old patents. As such, NeoLAB did not infringe any patent of Anoto. NeoLAB also intends to invalidate Anoto's patents.
"We want to assure our loyal partners and customers that we take these claims seriously and are currently in the process of countering the suits," said Dr. Eddie Lee, co-founder and CTO at NeoLAB Convergence Inc. "We greatly respect the work of all individuals and patented technologies. However, it is an inappropriate business practice to register patents for the technologies in public domain or developed by others, and use these patents to prevent others from bringing innovative products to the market. We do not tolerate such inappropriate business practices or defamatory claims raised against us."
