Nelson to Increase Production at Two Manufacturing Facilities, Closing Its Peoria Facility
STOUGHTON, Wis., Dec. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nelson Global Products, a global manufacturer of exhaust products, structural and air and fluid carrier tubes, has announced it is refining its U.S. manufacturing footprint. The company's Clinton, TN, and Morton, IL, facilities will be expanding their product offerings and increasing production.
Nelson's Peoria, IL, facility will close operations by the fall of 2014, and its 34 employees will be offered similar employment positions in one of the two Morton facilities, located 20 miles from the Peoria facility. Approximately, ten new employees will be hired at the Clinton facility.
"We have become a stronger, more flexible company. Simultaneously, market changes are dictating that we make smart changes in our manufacturing capacity and locations – both which will benefit our customers and our employees," said Doug Dole, vice president-operations, Nelson.
"This manufacturing shift will allow us to provide more local support for our customers in Tennessee, as well as improve working conditions for our employees in the newer Morton facilities," Dole said, noting the decision does not reflect on the performance or work ethic of its employees.
