GAITHERSBURG, Md., and OMAHA, Neb., March 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Sodexo, a global food services and facilities management company committed to improving Quality of Life, and Nebraska Medicine, a health network serving metro Omaha and extending across the Midwest and Great Plains regions, are pleased to announce the continuation of a successful 40-year partnership through Nebraska Medicine's award to Sodexo of a 10-year contract extension to 2030. The contract focuses on patient nutrition and environmental services along with a broad range of additional services that support exceptional patient care.
"The expertise Sodexo brings to our health network has contributed to our success," said Cory Shaw, executive vice president and chief operating officer. "From the time a patient or family member parks a car and receives directions to a hospital room, to patient nutrition and infection prevention operations, Sodexo has made Nebraska Medicine's promise of 'serious medicine, extraordinary care' come to life every day for the last 40 years. We are looking forward to continuing that partnership for our community and for our patients."
Beginning January 1, 2020, employees working in many of these areas transitioned from hospital to Sodexo employees for a total of about 800 Sodexo team members on site. This enables Sodexo to recruit and hire candidates from the local community and provide career advancement opportunities to employees.
"It is our privilege to continue our longstanding partnership with Nebraska Medicine, the number one hospital system in Omaha and the state of Nebraska," said Catherine J. Tabaka, CEO - Sodexo Healthcare, North America.
