NEB Releases CutSmart™ Buffer and Sets New Standard for Restriction Enzyme Convenience and Performance
IPSWICH, Mass., April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- New England Biolabs (NEB), a leader in the production of reagents for the life science industry, announces the release of CutSmart Buffer. This latest development from NEB supports an industry-leading portfolio of over 200 restriction enzymes that exhibit 100% activity in a single buffer. With CutSmart Buffer, it is significantly easier to set up DNA digestion experiments, including double digest reactions. Since CutSmart Buffer includes BSA, there are fewer tubes and pipetting steps to worry about. Additionally, many DNA modifying enzymes are 100% active in CutSmart Buffer, eliminating the need for subsequent downstream purification.

Simultaneously with the release of this new buffer, NEB instituted stricter criteria for its Time-Saver™ qualified restriction enzymes. These enzymes have been demonstrated to digest DNA fast, in as little as 5 to 15 minutes. However, they have also been shown to produce the same results in overnight incubations, should such scheduling flexibility be necessary. This type of qualification, which is unique to NEB, is available for more than 180 of NEB's enzymes.
