Nearly 175,000 People Impacted by CDFI
Capital Impact Partners Closes Six Deals Expanding Access to Quality Services to Build Healthier Communities
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One of the largest Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) in the country, Capital Impact Partners (formerly NCB Capital Impact), announced today that their financing work in December 2013 directly impacted nearly 175,000 people as well as provided important economic benefits to the communities in which these loans were made. Capital Impact Partners financed projects nationwide this year to help create access to better health care and education, healthy foods and alternative care options for older adults. In December alone, Capital Impact Partners closed the following deals:
Detroit: Advantage Health Centers, a network of community health centers located in Detroit, will open a brand new center on the city's famous 8 Mile Road that will increase access significantly for its 20,600 patients.
Washington, DC: Israel Manor Life Center is developing space for Unity Healthcare, a large health center, and other community space in northeast DC. When complete, this new facility will serve more than 52,000 people annually, most of them low- and moderate-income residents of Ward 5.
Los Angeles: Northgate Gonzales Market is a new grocery store that is part of the first major retail development in the Slauson area of south Los Angeles to take place in the last 30 years. Not only will this project clean up a blighted corner at a busy intersection, but it will also provide a clean, bright grocery store to more than 95,000 area residents who don't currently have easy access to fresh and healthy food. The project provides 50 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs at the store.
Loveland Colorado: Loveland Elder Green House Home for Life Enrichment, sponsored by the Housing Authority of Loveland, Colorado, will construct six new Green House homes with bedrooms for 10 elders each. The Housing Authority will target a high percentage of low-income elders, while providing 64 new permanent jobs with benefits and 72 construction jobs.
Boston, MA: Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center is building a long-awaited new clinic site in greater Boston that will expand access to primary care for more than 5,000 additional people.
Gardena, California: Environmental Charter Middle School is constructing one of the nation's greenest charter school facilities in Gardena, south of the LAX airport. This new middle school will provide a high quality education to up to 360 students, the majority of whom qualify for free and reduced price lunches.
