NE AG Bruning Joins Pass the BBA's National Advisory Board
PHOENIX, May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pass the Balanced Budget Amendment is pleased to announce the addition of Nebraska Attorney General and U.S. Senate Candidate Jon Bruning to join our group as the State Chair of Nebraska and to serve on the National Advisory Board. Attorney General Jon Bruning brings years of political experience and Public service to Pass the Balanced Budget Amendment, a leading voice calling for a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Bruning was elected as Nebraska's 31st Attorney General in 2002 and re-elected without opposition in 2006 and 2010. He is past President of the National Association of Attorneys General and previously served six years as a state senator in the Nebraska Legislature, having been elected twice to that office, in 1996 and 2000. He also currently serves on the Nebraska Board of Pardons with Governor Heineman and Secretary of State John Gale.
Several House Members of Congress have introduced BBA bills, and more are expected to be introduced in the upcoming months. Pass the BBA has supported efforts that balance the budget through spending cuts, require a supermajority vote in each chamber to raise taxes or increase debt, require the President to submit a balanced budget to Congress, and hold a vote by October 1, 2011.
Phoenix-based Pass the BBA has emerged as the leading advocate for a BBA. Pass the BBA is an "outside the Beltway" non-partisan, grassroots movement actively gathering 5,000 to 10,000 voter signatures in all 435 congressional districts demanding fiscal accountability from their leaders.
