NCU Debuts Peer-Reviewed Journal of Online Doctoral Education
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Northcentral University (NCU), a global online graduate school, today announced the inaugural issue of the Journal of Online Doctoral Education (JODE). Edited by Greg Bradley, Ph.D., and associate editors, Eva Mika, Ph.D. and Heather Rasmussen, Ph.D., it can be read online at http://jode.ncu.edu.
"Online doctoral education is a reflection of evolving contemporary paradigms in the workplace, in education and in the global marketplace as rapid and continuous advances in communications technology have modified the way we work, learn and transact," shared Bradley. "In that regard, it is our intent to provide a comprehensive forum for the best research in the rapidly changing and ever growing discipline of online doctoral education."
"The focus of the Journal of Online Doctoral Education is to feature outstanding scholarly contributions in online doctoral education from researchers around the world. The Journal is to be a forum for scholarly dialogue regarding the most important emerging issues in the field," explained Mika.
The first issue includes seven articles, authored by leading experts, on a variety of topics related to online education:
- Teaching Methods to Overcome Challenges in Online Graduate-Level Courses
- Six Instructional Best Practices for Online Engagement and Retention
- Transactional Distance in Online Graduate Courses at Doctoral Institutions
- Quality Considerations in the Design and Implementation of an Online Doctoral Program
- Procedural Justice and the Advisor-Advisee Relationship in Graduate Education
- Healthcare Reform Means Training Reform

"Coinciding with the distribution of the first issue of the Journal, we are also announcing a Call for Papers for the Winter 2014 edition. Manuscripts will be reviewed on any topic related to online doctoral education," said Rasmussen. "Manuscripts will also be considered in the more general area of online graduate education. Please visit http://jode.ncu.edu for more information on how to submit a manuscript for review; the submission deadline is October 15, 2014."
The Journal is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal with a wide-ranging focus on online doctoral education. Its double-blind peer review process makes certain that the selection process is independent and solely merit-based, with the objective of identifying the best research in the field.
