DALLAS, May 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Aprima Medical Software announced today that Aprima PRM 2016 has earned National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Prevalidation. Prevalidation is designed to help medical practices identify health IT solutions that alleviate or make more efficient the administrative aspects of meeting NCQA PCMH Program requirements.
Aprima PRM 2016 is prevalidated by NCQA to receive 28.24 autocredit points for 60 factors toward NCQA's PCMH 2014 scoring. Aprima 2016 also received a supporting designation for 82 additional factors in the PCMH 2014 standards.
Prevalidation benefits practices by automatically giving them credit for several areas of the PCMH application process, with known features and functions specifically for PCMH within Aprima. Practices that use an NCQA Prevalidated system with autocredit awarded to a factor do not have to submit documentation for that associated factor within their PCMH Survey.
"Aprima has been supporting our customers' efforts to achieve PCMH status since 2010, and our customer Potomac Physicians was the first practice in the country to achieve NCQA PCMH Level 3 status," said Michael Nissenbaum, president and CEO of Aprima. "We are proud of our ongoing work in developing fast and efficient software to help providers not only meet government requirements, but also achieve clinical and financial success. Being NCQA Prevalidated for PCMH delivers on our ongoing commitment to helping customers achieve PCMH recognition. Our customers will greatly benefit from the autocredit that can be applied to their PCMH 2014 survey score, as well as from the reduction in required documentation. Aprima is dedicated to providing customers with solutions that are patient-focused, support well-coordinated care, and align with the goals and standards of the PCMH program."
The PCMH is a model for organizing and delivering high quality care and to ensure that care is received at the right time and in the manner the patient prefers. NCQA PCMH Prevalidation includes a rigorous evaluation of a health IT solution's functionality including, but not limited to, reporting functions, report examples, screen shots, live demonstrations and other relevant documentation. NCQA approves autocredit based on PCMH factor-level requirements and also designates which factors a product is able to "support" practices in garnering the PCMH designation.
"By providing software that helps physician practices build the patient-focused, coordinated care infrastructure expected of NCQA patient-centered medical homes, Aprima is helping practices be part of modern healthcare's most important transformations," said NCQA President Margaret E. O'Kane. "Medical homes are the way of the future, and Aprima is helping practices get there."
"Aprima worked closely with us during the approval and certification process to become a patient-centered medical home," said Marc Mayer, D.O., president and medical director of the New Jersey-based Avenel Iselin Medical Group. "Being recognized as a PCMH has been a tremendous financial boost for us and Aprima continues to help us track the type of data we need for reporting."
