OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- "We thought that if we ever granted out $10 million, we would be doing something big," says Frank Brown, a founding board member of National Christian Foundation Heartland. He smiles as he recalls the initial goal for the foundation in 2000, when ministry leaders and business owners founded the organization. "It's a God thing; the return on investment has been incredible."
The organization celebrated $2 billion granted out to nonprofit organizations since 2000 in September. That's inspiring.
The mission of National Christian Foundation (NCF) is Mobilizing resources by inspiring biblical generosity. The 40,000 nonprofit organizations to whom NCF has made grants to date certainly benefit from the organization's commitment to connecting the doers (nonprofits) with the donors.
"Our purpose is unique, and we really don't have the option to not carry it out," says founding board member Emmitt Mitchell. He adds that "ministries and organizations feel hope when we come around. They see light."
To make the donation process more inclusive, donors can donate more than just cash. They can also donate appreciated stock, real estate and other non-cash assets to NCF for causes they care about, causes as diverse as providing medical care for orphans in Haiti or hurricane relief in the Southern U.S.
If we are honest, we are wired to want results. The doer (nonprofit) is encouraged by the immediate support they receive to continue helping people. The donors are encouraged by immediate tax savings and increased joy through supporting causes they care about. That makes for a win-win partnership and a great return on investment.
