NC4 Announces Windows 10 Application for NC4 Street Smart™
Empowering law enforcement from roll call to foot patrol - revolutionizing crime- fighting with Tactical Intelligence-Led Policing tools
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NC4 is proud to announce its latest development effort to combine its award-winning software, NC4 Street Smart™ with Microsoft Corp.'s latest hardware and software offerings. NC4 and Microsoft are working to build a new Windows 10 application that will allow users to access NC4 Street Smart from devices such as Microsoft Surface Hub during roll calls or crime fighting meetings. This same application can also be used in their cruiser on devices including Surface or Windows 10 Mobile. While not limited or restricted to Microsoft hardware, the new application is designed to take advantage of the latest advances in Windows 10 and the latest hardware including onboard GPS and camera functions to give law enforcement easy-to-use, mission-critical tools for fighting crime.
Windows 10 provides an unparalleled platform, giving NC4 the opportunity to leverage the latest technology advances in building our Metro application. For example, an officer can leverage speech-to-text using Microsoft's Cortana – the world's first truly personal digital assistant – to quickly enter information into NC4 Street Smart. Or leverage Microsoft's Edge Web note feature, allowing the officers to take and share notes on crime maps directly on the browser or view video surveillance clips at the touch of a finger on Surface Hub.
Another unique feature will be the utilization of Windows Continuum to provide a seamless experience across all the devices. As an example, an officer can validate and create a Crime Alert Bulletin from a device in a police cruiser, alerting all other officers in the area of a crime. Then using a mobile device, capture pictures on-scene and note location through GPS without having to navigate on the mobile device, thus creating a quick, effective experience. NC4 Street Smart remembers where the officer left off, gaining valuable time. GPS will also provide real-time situational awareness for officers, increasing officer safety and allowing officers to focus their effort on fighting crime.
NC4 will be working closely with the New Castle County Police Department in Delaware, who has been selected as the launch agency for the initiative. New Castle County PD will be instrumental in helping NC4 in the early design stage and in providing hands-on input as the application is developed.
New Castle County Chief of Police Colonel E.M. Setting states; "NC4 Street Smart is a valuable technology that allows our officers to obtain and view detailed data quickly, efficiently and securely. With the fast pace of each investigation, having the ability to share and review data on various platforms in the field is more important than ever. We are excited and honored to be part of this new initiative with NC4 and Microsoft. The New Castle County Police look forward to utilizing this new application to not only prevent crime, but to also solve cases and rapidly make arrests to prevent more citizens from being victimized."
"Built with help from more than 4 million people around the world, Windows 10 marks the start of a new era of personal technology, designed to empower people to do great things," said Rick Zak, director of Microsoft's Justice & Public Safety Solutions. "NC4's new app flexes the power of Microsoft's latest technologies to help law enforcement better fight crime and protect citizens."
NC4 plans to make the solution commercially available in late October and will be officially launching the solution at IACP in Chicago from October 25 - 27, 2015. To learn more or to follow our progress, visit our website at http://www.NC4.com/Pages/Windows-10.aspx.
