NBC Bay Area Launches "The Mix" Hosted By Janet Reilly
San Francisco businesswoman and philanthropist spotlights California's leading newsmakers
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NBC Bay Area today announced that Janet Reilly will be the host of The Mix, a monthly news magazine show premiering this Saturday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. The Mix will deliver an in-depth look at the Bay Area's biggest stories and will feature interviews with a variety of California's leading newsmakers – from actors, athletes, and CEO's to philanthropists, politicians, and tech industry leaders.
Reilly, a native Californian and a successful businesswoman, will provide a unique perspective on issues facing the Bay Area. She is the former president of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District and is the co-founder and president of Clinic by the Bay, a volunteer based medical clinic in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. Reilly has run for public office twice – in 2006 for California State Assembly and in 2010 for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. She is also a former journalist and businesswoman, known for her philanthropic work and commitment to making San Francisco a better place to live.
"Janet's passion for public service and motivation for social change are sure to catch the attention of our viewers as she covers the topics that matter most to them," said Rich Cerussi, NBC Bay Area's President and General Manager. "We are excited to be adding The Mix to our weekend lineup and to give our viewers access to these fascinating people and stories."
"The Bay Area is one of the most vital and innovative regions in our country. There are so many extraordinary people living here and there's always something going on," said Reilly." I'm thrilled to be hosting The Mix, and I look forward to bringing these exciting people, stories, and events to our viewers."
In the show's debut on Saturday, Reilly sits down with Senator Dianne Feinstein and her daughter Katherine for an intimate discussion on politics and family. Katherine speaks about what it was like growing up in the Bay Area with a mother known as a political pioneer – and how it ultimately shaped her feelings about pursuing a career in public office.
Also in the debut, Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom discusses legalizing marijuana in California, and the final segment will consist of a roundtable discussion on the recent developments in the Warriors potential move to San Francisco.
The show will regularly air on the third Saturday of each month at 6:30 p.m., and NBC Bay Area will replay episodes of The Mix Sunday nights at midnight directly following NBC Bay Area News at 11pm.
