NBC 5's Tom Ehlmann Named Texas Broadcaster of the Year
The Texas Association of Broadcasters Honors North Texas TV Executive
DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) has named NBC 5 / KXAS-TV president and general manager Tom Ehlmann as "Broadcaster of the Year."
Ehlmann has been president and general manager of NBC 5 / KXAS-TV since 2008. The historic station is Texas' first, signing on in 1948, and in November 2013, after 65 years in its original facility moved 18 miles to the center of Dallas-Fort Worth to better serve viewers. Under Ehlmann's leadership, various NBCUniversal businesses are now co-located in the newly constructed, state-of-the-art media facility perfectly situated to deliver informative news and entertainment programming.
The Texas Association of Broadcasters also cites Ehlmann's contributions to building local community through expanding economic opportunity and strengthening the broadcast industry as reasons for the recognition.
"The history of broadcasting in Texas is punctuated by the accomplishments of passionate leaders who cared about community as much as commerce," said TAB president Oscar Rodriquez.
From 1998-2004, Ehlmann served as president and general manager of KHWB-TV in Houston.
The TAB will honor Ehlmann at its annual awards gala in Austin in August 2014.
