Navistar and Lisle Park District Enter Into Unique Public-Private Partnership
Navistar to Present Shuttle Bus to Lisle Park District to Help Senior Programs
LISLE, Ill., March 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Navistar presented a large shuttle bus to the Lisle Park District for their senior trip program this morning.
Jeff Bowen, vice president, Special Projects, Navistar, and David Hillman, director, Global Bus Marketing, IC Bus, presented the bus to Don Cook, Lisle Park District Board president—along with Board of Park Commissioners Tony Carballo, Margaret Hough and Debra Morse. Also in attendance was Lisle Mayor Joe Broda, trustees Mark Boyle, Ed Young, Cathy Cawiezel, Joe Schmitt, Lee LaFond and Clerk Tim Seeden.
"We are so thankful for this wonderful contribution to our program," said Shirlee Jecmen, Lisle resident and participant in the park district's senior program. "We have many activities and outings in our program but haven't had sufficient transportation until now."
Navistar sees this unique public-private partnership as an opportunity to provide a transportation solution to the park district while helping them meet the needs of their constituents.
The bus presented to the park district is an IC Bus HC Series Platinum, which seats 31 passengers and has air conditioning and an audio and video system.
Navistar is scheduled to move into its new Lisle campus later this year, and the bus presentation is another example of the company's commitment to being a good neighbor. The bus will also appear at Navistar-specific events.
